Coffee does strange things

It has been an exciting journey leading up to the launch of Casetta Living this year and it does not seem long ago that the idea to start an online homewares business entered my mind.

In fact, I remember the “light-bulb” moment when my husband and I were walking through Williamstown on a warm summer’s day. We entered a beautiful homewares store, and while I am no stranger to an unplanned browse, it was on this occasion that the inspiration for interior design seemed to burn even brighter.

By the time we had made our way from the homewares store into a café an idea had started to brew. While sipping our coffees the inspiration came “ Let’s start our own homewares business”.

The big experiment

I am happy to admit we were a bit green to start with. There was much to do and many questions to ponder, such as should we buy established or start from scratch ? How would we differ from the many stores out there? How were we to attract the right suppliers let alone customers!?

We were never going to know all the answers upfront, we understood that we needed to learn much along the way, so we threw caution to the wind and took the leap of faith.

Our hearts told us to start from scratch so that we could make this project truly our own, something to reflect my passions and that we would reflect our inspiration.

Why “Casetta Living ?”

Casetta means “little home” in Italian.

It was a big deal when my son moved out into his own apartment, not only because he was my eldest, but because it sparked recognition for the growing trend in small space living. With apartment lifestyles and smaller homes becoming more popular we spotted the opportunity to provide pieces that would help to create a beautiful and functional ambience, regardless of dimensions.

Who is behind “Casetta Living ?”

The saying goes: “it takes a village to raise a child”, we found that “it takes a family to build a business”

Casetta Living in essence is a family business. As a mum, a partner a traveller and a dreamer, I have been fortunate to have a wonderful family that both supports and encourages my passions.

My daughter with her marketing expertise, my husband with his business and technical experience and my son who’s financial skills will help us grow. Without their help Casetta Living would still be just a flight of fancy!

Where to from here?

We are starting small, though we have big ideas.

Our aim is to handpick beautiful and innovative pieces that reflect both Australian and international designers with the aim of helping you create the ambience you love.

We are thrilled to have found the opportunity to promote Australian Designs and Innovation in homewares. Australia has a large pool of talent particularly in our home town of Melbourne and our favourite getaway destination - Torquay which we continue to explore. We also want to bring the unique beauty that reflects my European heritage.

Sustainability is important to us. We have selected natural, biodegradable and environmentally friendly packaging materials. Our pieces are lovingly wrapped and ready to be gifted.
