8 Café Style Dining Tips
As a lover of coffee,it is inevitable I visit quite a few cafes. It’s no wonder then, that the café style inspiration has hit home and I have fallen for this dining phenomenon!
Café Style Dining gives the impression of European inspired space, creating a casual and comfortable ambience with impact. With thoughtful styling, your café-style kitchen will be beautiful and the perfect spot to sit in to enjoy sipping your latte or short black.
Here are some style tips on ways to create a café-inspired kitchen in your home:
1. Open shelving: This is a must-have, whether it is in the form of a single or a number of shelves – they will double as storage for crockery, glassware and cooking utensils or placement of prized items such as art, cookbooks and plants. Choosing natural raw timber or black shelving will contrast nicely depending on the overall colour scheme of the kitchen.
2. Lighting: Balance your dining space with eye-catching details by bringing pendant lighting into the area. Whether adding one or more over the dining table, two or three over an island or sink, brass or black hanging, light fixtures will bring functionality as well as the rustic charm of café-style ambience.
3. Flooring: Black and white checked tiles or mosaic flooring gives the feeling of a busy European café. Alternatively, the deep warmth of a dark timber floor is also a great palette for the overall style.
4. Wall Tiling: Using white or light subway wall tiles will contrast nicely with the black accents around the kitchen and dining space whilst giving it an airy and light feel.
5. Seating: Don’t be afraid to be bold with your seating. Bring colour into the space through a colourful armchair or set of statement chairs around your dining table to finish off the look. With timber finishes and chic black and white elements throughout the space, being bold with colour can really add character to the room.
6. Chalkboard: Adding a chalkboard is a great fun addition, and can be of great value for menu planning or leaving messages for the family.
7. Crockery: This is a great way to add café style personality to the table. Organic in shape, rustic yet fabulously versatile, the Robert Gordon Earth collection, as depicted in the image, is mixed and matched seamlessly to create a casual yet warm and inviting space.
8. Add dark accessories: Adding some dark pieces in the form of artwork, china or even just a humble tea towel will highlight and create interest points that can be easily moved around.
